The UK has launched the first Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) apprenticeship.
Working groups Balfour Beatty, Thames Water, HS2, Costain, Sapa UK, Sisk, Skanska, Permission Homes, Mitie, Morrison Utilities and more, have initiated the creation of the new qualification.
The SHE apprenticeship qualification allows young people to learn whilst on the job with 20% of time spent on additional off-site training. It allows them to earn whilst learning and is an attractive alternative for many. The apprenticeship is a level three qualification which will give apprentices the equivalent of two A levels.
The first 20 apprentices have started their journey today within a range of companies. A further 160 people are due to start this year. The apprenticeship will typically last 24 months.
