Green light given for £200m development in Manchester

Ex-footballers Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs have been given the green light for their £200m St Michael’s development in Manchester.

Many groups were concerned about the original plans stating that the development would significantly impact the area’s history with the addition of two skyscrapers and the demolition of the Sir Ralph Abercromby pub.

Therefore after being revised following the concern from historic conversation groups the scheme now has the go ahead. Included in the development will be a five-star hotel with 216 bedrooms and an impressive 39 story tower which will house 189 modern apartments and an office space. A public square will be build as well as a 6 story mixed-use podium which will have retailers, a new synagogue, a spa facility and banqueting hall.

Neville stated that the scheme will be a significant contribution to the city and create 1,500 jobs.
