Construction giant Morgan Sindall has bagged a pre-construction service agreement for the first phase of the £384m mixed-use community development.
Hackney Council’s ambitious project will include a large leisure centre, an academy and flats. Morgan Sindall will begin to finalise the plans and price for the new project.
The large leisure centre will replace the current Britannia leisure centre. It will house several swimming pools, five-a-side pitches and rooftop tennis courts. The ambitious academy will be able to cater for 900 students and 200 sixth formers. It will be located on the site of the Britannia leisure centre.
Four 24 storey residential flat blocks will be built later in the later phases of the scheme and will contain 500 flats for sale, helping to finance the previous phases.
