Landsec has begun plans for a new London building behind the iconic Piccadilly Billboard lights.
Costing £250m, the complex work will involve demotion contractor Erith, demolishing the standing building behind the newly installed digital screens.
This will allow for the empty space behind the Lights to be utilised with some of the buildings facades being retained.
Enabling works will begin next April after the 6month design phase.
Architects Flecher Priest are planning to turn the space into a welcoming site for Londers, including shopping, apartments and flexible workspaces. The planned eight-story building will also feature a top floor winter garden roof terrace.
